Part 1: Solve |4x-11| < 5. You must show all work. Part 2: Use complete sentences to describe the graph in words. ok so I got x<4 and x>-15 but I'm not sure if its right, and how do i graph it?
have you tried?
The graph? not yet, are the solutions correct? do you need two solutions?
Am I on the right track at least?
only one of the solutions is right.
x<4 right?
So for this type of question, I don't need two solutions? Why is that?
you can solve in one line rather than two
\[|4x-11|<5\iff -5<4x-11<5\]
add 11 all the way across, then divide all by 4
you need 2 solutions. Isolate each case.
-5<4x-11<5 --> x<4 how do i find the other solution correctly?
ok so for the 2nd solution i do 4x+11<5 right?
add 11, divide by 4, just like on the other side
\[-5<4x-11<5\] \[6<4x<16\] \[\frac{3}{2}<x<4\]
oh, haha ok now i get it, lol it was right in front of my face. Thats cool! Thank you!
if you need steps they are \[-5<4x-11<5\] \[-5+11<4x-11+11<5+11\] \[6<4x<16\]
got it ?
ok good!
Thank you so much!! :)
@satellite73 I wouldn't have expected you to give out the answer
yw
someone asks, i usually answer
I mean, I understand it- I origionally had the correct format I just stupidly subtracted wrong, and put the wrong sign which gave me the wrong answer. @satellite73 gave me a better, clearer format, not necessarily the answer. :)
Thanks again for all your help!
I really don't care. I just don't know why I get flagged for giving answers then if an Admin does it.
originally* oh i didn't know you could get flagged for that.
I've been flagged multiple times and reported for giving answers to people who need it. So, yeah. Not cool.
