what about this one? Write the sum using summation notation, assuming the suggested pattern continues. 100 + 121 + 144 + 169 + ... + n2 + ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

once you know the pattern, just stick a sum notate in front of it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but this is too hip to be square ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how do i get the pattern?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the pattern is actually given to you: n^2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its up to you to determine the value of n that starts it off

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\[\Large \sum_{n=??}^{inf}n^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

n=10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since 10^2 = 100, i would go with that :) if the instructions want you to start at a specific index, you might need to adjust the n values appropriatley
