All types of birth control pills are only 99% effective. Birth control pills and condoms can greatly reduce the chance of getting pregnant if both are used but the 1% chance is still there. Also, no type of birth control method can protect against STDs. Before having sex it is important for both partners to decide which method they will use and to have themselves tested for STDs. After that both partners are responsible for anything that happens.

If you want to protect against STD's (sexually transmitted diseases) then a condom would be the only birth control method. Otherwise, abstinence which is where you don't have intercourse at all.
