Remove the first set of parentheses since it's unnecesary. To remove the second set of parentheses, distribute the negative sign (-1) by changing every sign of the terms inside the second set of parentheses. Then combine like terms. Like terms are terms wirth the same varibale parts. Here's a similar but simpler example: (x^2 + x) - (-3x^2 + 4x) = x^2 + x + 3x^2 - 4x = x^2 + 3x^2 + x - 4x = 4x^2 - 3x
That first part kind of confused me..
@ganeshie8 @Luigi0210
group like terms
How would I subtract them then? .-.
Just make sure you distribute the negative to everything
why do you only have 3 terms?
I don't know...
^_^' Here let's try something different. Just ignore the x's for a sec and add whatever is in the parenthesis but DON'T combine them http://www.sketchtoy.com/36614748
Okay. Can I erase the last thing I did?
Sure
@Luigi0210
How do I not subtract those 2?
because they are not like terms, remember that it's -3x and -3
sorry.. I think I'm just confusing you more D:
