A ship's clock strikes every half hour of a 4-hour period. After the first half hour it strikes "one bell," after another half hour it strikes "two bells," and so on until it strikes "eight bells" at the end of the four hour period. It then begins a new four hour period . How many strikes of the bell occur in one day?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Count the number of strikes in a 4 hour period, then multiply by 6 (because there are 6 4-hour periods per day). Hint: you need to count very carefully — it may help to write down the number of bell strikes over an 8 hour period...

Okay! So it would be 216, thank you so much! @whpalmer4
