yes a) It forced Confederate troops to retreat back across the Potomac River. b) The Mississippi River was under Union control and the Confederacy was divided. c) The Confederacy lost more soldiers at Vicksburg than during any other battle. d) From that point on, the South had to abandon its attempt to take the war North.
