How does the three-chambered heart equip amphibians for life on land?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since an amphibian has three heart chambers the circulation to his body and the one to his lungs are partially separated. It has been proven that, because of the specific internal shape of these chambers, the bloodstreams mix less than one might expect. So you have an oxygen-rich bloodstream that flows through the body and an oxygen-poor bloodstream that goes to the lungs. These are the first steps to an efficient respiration.
