The graph of this function has a hole in it. What is the x-coordinate of that hole? (12x^2+60x)/(x^2-2x-35)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

"has a hole in it" means the function is "undefined" at that point This occurs when the denominator = 0 so what value(s) of 'x' make x² - 2x - 35 = 0 ??

I need more of a clarification

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

factoring

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

more clarification about factoring? or more about a function being "undefined" ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No wait, I got -5

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

The weird thing is...your question says this graph has a "hole" it would actually have 2 "holes" because there are 2 values of 'x' that make this function undefined

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Way to go Mr. Weldon, another mind enlighten :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I got both -5 and 7 and it accepted -5

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Then perfect! lol and both correct answers! Also, Why Thank You @Luigi0210 :)

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

You are welcome :P
