viruses can best be described as a)genetic material wrapped in a protein coat b) a samll, solid ball of infectious protein c) primitive type of bacterial cell smallest typr of living cell
@InYourHead i know it is not C
Are viruses and cells the same thing? Or are they different?
virusses are cells
They're not.
Think about all the things that are inside of our cells. A nucleus. Ribosomes. Mitochondria. All these different organelles. Do viruses have any of those things?
no
Nope. Viruses are not cells. They can INFECT cells. But they're much smaller than cells.
So it's not C. What else is it not?
D
I think its A?
Yep. It's A. Here's a picture of a virus: http://img.tfd.com/dorland/thumbs/nucleocapsid.jpg It has three main parts. 1. Genetic material (which can be DNA or RNA) 2. A protein coat, called a "capsid." 3. A lipid envelope, which is a bubble that surrounds the capsid. Some viruses don't have a lipid envelope. But it's pretty simple.
@InYourHead okay thanks for that but now some questions i am just going to write them and answer it ans u can just check the for me plz cause my teacher is not gonna go over this
Alright.
1)Viruses are photosynthetic chemosynthetic parasitic all of above my answer- D 2) which is the result of conjugation nucleotide brak down rapid cell reproduction genetic diversity endospores creation my answer- C?
Archea and bacteria differ because of their nuclei cell walls flagella organelles I am not sure about this one
@InYourHead
I agree with your answer for #2.
1 and 3?
No.
Well you didn't even answer 3.
i dont know 3
Do you know what photosynthesis and chemosynthesis are?
yes phto-is sunlight and that's how it is made using sunlught,chemo-like elements ans molecules and all that is used in the process
Yes. They're both ways to make food. Are viruses alive? Do they need food?
no
Well then I guess they don't use photosynthesis or chemosynthesis. Does that make sense?
ya so it is C
Yes. Process of elimination. I'll tell you something about viruses: They can't make copies of themselves, on their own. They need to use our cells, to do this. And after they're done using our cells, they destroy our cells. That sounds a lot like a parasite.
for #3 it is either B or D
Here's a picture of the cell walls of bacteria: http://water.me.vccs.edu/courses/env108/clipart/cellwall.gif Take a look on the Left side. You see that big brown block? That's called "peptidoglycan." Archaebacteria don't have peptidoglycan in their cell walls.
so it is B
Yes.
okay i think this is the last one
bacteriophage:bacteria:: a) photosynthetic bacteria:chemosynthethis bacteria bateria:viruses antibiotics:bacteria virus:host
c?
Do you know what a bacteriophage is?
yes virusses that infect bacteria
So why did you pick...C?
cause viruses infect bacteria the same way bacteria are killed by antibiotics
I can see how you made that connection. Look at it this way: Bacteriophages are pathogens. They infect bacteria. All pathogens infect a host. So, we want to pick a choice that includes a pathogen, and a host.
d?
Yeah.
A "host" is something that gets infected.
then what do u cal that 1 animal/human that gets infected 1st?
Do you mean when we're looking at a whole crowd of infected people, and we want to find the one person who was infected first?
yes
That person is called the "index case."
okay so bacteria cells have both a cell memberane and outer cell wall right?
Yes.
which of the following can be found in the cytoplasma of a bacterial cell? chloroplats golgi bodies mitochondria none of above
D?many be not sure
yeah i am sure about D
Yes.
the chromosomes of bacteria contains numerous types of organells are divided into compartments vary on number depending on the species of bacteria contain single circular pice of DNA
B OR D?
i think D more than B
I would go with D myself.
If you have anymore questions, you can make a separate post. I do have to leave now.
okay byeeee thanks :)
@inyourhead long time
good to see you again girl so watsupppppppppp @inyourhead
No. I'm not doing this.
It's a.
