Solve the inequality, -3x - 2 < 5. x < 7/3 x > -7/3 x < 1 x > -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

please don't just give answers...

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

add 3x-5 both sides

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

\[\huge -3x-2<5\] \[\huge -3x<7\] \[\huge -x<\frac{7}{3}\] \[\huge x<\frac{-7}{3}\] Is this right???? i am not sure

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

there's not an option assigned in letters :P

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

- 3x - 2 < 5 add 2 both sides to help isolate..... LMAO NINY SO BIG?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

no, -x to turn x you have the flip the sign

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

am i right??? @nincompoop

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I said NO

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

everything else was right until the last part

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

- 3x - 2 < 5 add 2 both sides to help isolate THE X ON ONE SIDE.. - 3x - 2 + 2 < 5 + 2 now divide by - 3 and flip the sign because you're dividing by a negative -3x/-3 > 7/-3 simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The the sign need to be facing x because you divide by a negative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nincompoop is it really that hard to interpret what b would be

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

ohkk.. I understand

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

or when u feel a lil dyslexic u can try below : -3x-2 < 5 add 3x both sides -2 < 5 + 3x subtract 5 -7 < 3x divide 3 -7/3 < x

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

not facing, nomming* x > -7/3 means the sign is eating the x because x is in greater proportions. :P

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

lol @ganeshie8

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

@jdm*hutch95 ya it is difficult to interpret someone's disservice to the cause of the website…

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HAHA

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

someone link the man to the code of conduct, lul

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol went to get something to eat really quick and im like, "umm, okay"

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

xD

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

no matter @charlieberzak do you understand how it works? it's very similar to equality except that it involves flipping ≥ or > to ≤ or < whenever you are changing the placeholder's sign from a negative to positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i kinnda got that in the other questions, i just forget a lot lol

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

practice, practice, and practice. the purpose of assigment/homework is to so that you won't forget. if your math class is an hour a week, the allotted time for practice hours would be 4 times.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i take internet school :/ so my entire life is really homework lol

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

if you did all your homework religiously, test and finals are going to be a piece of cake.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill keep trying :) so the correct answer is B?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you shouldn't even ask at this point if you truly understood it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just wanted to make sure
