find the radius of a circle with a chord that is 24 meters and is 5 meters from the center of the circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a line through the center of the circle bisects the chord and it si perpendicular to it. so that line will will cut the chord to make a right angled tringle with sides 12m ie 24 divide by 2, the other line is 5 m, and the third line will be the hypotenus whic will be the radius of the circle. so u sjust use pythagorus theore. ie 12square plus 5 squre = radius square
