x=-2

Since the first equation is already solved for y, use the substitution method. Just plug in what y is equal to in the y of the second equation. Then solve for x. Then once you have x, plug in the value of x into the first equation and get y.

2x+3(3x=8)=2 2x+9x+24=2 combine like terms 11x+24=2 -24 on both sides 11x=-22 divide by 11 /22 -2 x=-2
