How would I factor this? 20y2 + 3y - 2

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

Find multiple of 20 and 2 that when you subtract = 3 like 5 x 4 and 2x 1 ( 5x1) =5 and 4x2= 8 8-5= 3

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

Can you take it from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm horrible at factoring.

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

Then you have (5x+2)(4x - 1)

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

If you multiply using distributive property you should get back the first equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh. That makes sense. Thanks a lot!!!

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

I used x should be y, but is the same answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, that's what I figured. Thanks again!
