Microbiology is a branch in $biology$ that is considered one of the more "applied" biology courses. Usually, microbiologists study both bacteria (unicellular) and viral species. However, they do also study multicellular organisms and acellular (meaning, they lack cells). 

So if you have any questions related to Microbiology, you should ask that under the biology section.
