I haven't read the novel, so I can't help you, but it sounds pretty simple. There should be at least one major problem that effected the outcome of the story. What was one of them? Once you figure that out, all you have to do is research it as is instructed, and organize your findings into 3 paragraphs.
I know that may seem difficult and a long process, but we've all been through it and survived :)
