Which of the following represents the solution of 17 + x > -2 in set notation?

OpenStudy (kenljw):

17 + x > -2 in set notation? x > -19 subtract 17 from both sides \[x \in R,x > -19 \in Solution\]

OpenStudy (kenljw):

R represents real numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so just subtract 17 from both sides and thats it?

OpenStudy (kenljw):

yes just solve the equation for x and place in set form

Thanks

Oh one more question can you explain x/4_>8?

OpenStudy (kenljw):

What ever you do to one side of an equation you must do to the other to maintain the equality x/4 >8 4(x/4)>8(4) x>32

OpenStudy (kenljw):

If Multiplying/Dividing by a negative number change inequality -1 < 1 1 > -1 multiplied by -1 there changed inequality
