What is the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle below?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

Rule of 45-45-90 one side = x one side = x hyp = xsqrt2

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

can you take it from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i was hoping someone could help me solve one, because i have a few more similar problems to go

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

well you know one side = 5sqrt2, then multiply by sqrt 2

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

it would be 5x2, because sqrt2 x sqrt2 = 2, then you have 5 x2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 10sqrt2

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

just 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the sqrt cancels when they multiply?

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you very much, hopefully i figure it out, its quite confusing

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

yw:)
