What would happen if I put an iron washer in saturated acetic acid (white vinegar) for 1-5 minutes??

you would oxidize the iron and produce hydrogen gas..

Fe(s) + Acetic acid -> Fe(acetate ion) + H2

i'm not sure how much you would oxidize in >5 minutes though

Not much. I think it takes a lot longer for that. But thanks for helping :)

I tried it with a galvanized washer instead... none of the hardware store where I live carry iron washers anymore
