How would I do this problem? In triangle ABC, angle A is a right angle and the measure of angle B = 45. Find BC.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

So then you would have a 45-45-90 triangle

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

This means that the ratio of the sides is 1:1:√2

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

this means that the 2 sides that are NOT the hypotenuse are the same....so now you have 2 sides...both of length 11....and you want to solve for the hypotenuse

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

A right triangle has a special property, the angles inside are 45-45-90,meaning the the legs of the triangle are the same distance, and the hypotenuse is square root(2) * the leg distance.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 11 sqrt2?

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

good job
