Andrew measures the amount of a very unstable substance to be 100 moles. The half-life of this substance is 3 days (after 3 days half is gone). Wrinte an exponential function (form y=ab^x) that models this situation. Y is the amount of the substance and x is the time in days.

please help!

OpenStudy (jim766):

if it is half gone in 3 days, how much will be gone in 1 day?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't that irrelevant?

OpenStudy (jim766):

they say they want the equation written where x is the number of days...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right, but it had to be in the form y=ab^x

OpenStudy (jim766):

yes a is the initial amount b is the multipier

OpenStudy (jim766):

if they wanted the equation where x was the number of 3 day periods the equation would be y = 100(1/2)^x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i'll try it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
