Is there a solution to the following? {y=4x+3 {y=4x-3

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Subtract the two equations and see what you get.

OpenStudy (zzelinski):

Yes because you want to solve for either x or y at a time, so say we solve for y, we have to make one of the 4x = -4x by multiplying the entire equation by -1.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Please note that both of those lines have slope 4. Therefore they are parallel lines. Parallel lines never cross.

OpenStudy (zzelinski):

Oh right, sorry bout that
