OpenStudy (waleed_imtiaz):

Laplace transform is used to convert time-domain to frequency domain?what does it mean? please elaborate...

OpenStudy (badhi):

A waveform (periodic or with a finite energy) can be expressed as a linear combination of sinusoidal wave. Having said that we need to find the amplitudes of each sinusoidal signal with a particular frequency of that combination. Finding this is done by using Fourier transform or Fourier series. So if we show these amplitude values of each sinusoidal wave with respect to their frequency. we get the "frequency domain" wave form of the signal. Laplace transform can be considered as a extended version of the Fourier transform.
