A rock is dropped from a height of 80 m and is in free fall. What is the velocity of the rock as it reaches the ground 4.0 seconds later?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

This is a physics problem.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

but anyways, After 4.0 s of free-fall it will eventually reach near the surface of the Earth, (of course ignoring air resistance), the vertical speed of an object starting from rest is given by \(g\times T\) where g = 9.8 something and T = TIME.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it = 20 m/s downward?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes.
