Linear Algebra 8 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the slope of the line passing through the points (-2, 9) and (5, 3). A. -6/7 B. 4 C. -7/6 D. 1/4

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

slope is rise over run, or M = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

You are given two points, (x1, y1) and (x2, y2). Plug them into the formula I gave you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that. But I got a little confused when I connected the line.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

well plug those points into that equation and tell me what you get (that will be your answer). There's no need to draw anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m=(9-3)/(-2-5) is this correct so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH would it be -6/7

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

yup, that is correct as well. You can either do (y1-y2)/(x1-x2) or (y2-y1)/(x2-x1).
