triangle inside a circle, determine radius... possible?

OpenStudy (jack1):

could use the cos rule to work out the angles which would tell me the arc lengths... but it seems a bit long winded... is there a shorter way?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the upper vertex of the garden above the center of the circle?

OpenStudy (jack1):

no, sorry all points are just random, no right angles, nothing through the center of the circle

OpenStudy (jack1):

i got r = 20.6155... that seem right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r=abc/(sqrt((a+b+c)(-a+b+c)(a-b+c)(a+b-c)))

OpenStudy (jack1):

using known lengths so (abc)/(sqrt((a+b+c)(b+c-a)(c+a-b)(a+b-c))) if a= 32.984845, b= 40, c= 32

OpenStudy (jack1):

nice @cinar i just found that formula online

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me too (:

OpenStudy (jack1):

cheers for that
