Which symptoms may be seen in a person affected by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)? 1 persistent cough 2 less elastic alveoli 3 increased risk of lung infection 4 shortness of breath A 1 and 4 only B 1, 2 and 3 only C 2, 3 and 4 only D 1, 2, 3 and 4

Should not it be A?

thomaster (thomaster):

persistent cough is definitly a symptom Also shortness of breath (dyspnea) is a symptom So a could be right. But, with COPD, the alveoli lose their elasticity (like an old rubber band). Less air gets in and less air goes out. This also causes sputum to clog in the airways, which will increase the risk of lung infection. So i think it's D :)

Okay. How how I took it was that 1 and 4 are symptoms but the loss of elasticity in the alveoli and the increased risk of lung infection are signs of the condition since they can be observed only after a medical analysis. O.o

thomaster (thomaster):

Well then i don't know i guess xD Either A or D where i live, a sign is exactly the same thing as a symptom. But i've heard that it's considered different in the US.

Okay. Thanks anyway for your help! :)
