Why did Hitler launch Operation Barbarossa? to invade France following his annexation of the Sudetenland in 1939 to gain control of the rich resources that were under the control of the USSR to counter the approaching American army after their victory at the Battle of the Bulge to secure control over Western Europe before attempting to secure control over Eastern Europe

Hi, on 21 Jul 1940 Hitler ordered to develop this plan to liquidate USSR. Final variant 'plan Otto' was approved on 5 Dec 1940. Fascists invaded on 22 June 1941. They concentrated at the beginning 5,5 mln soldiers, 3712 tanks, 47 260 cannons,, 4950 air crafts against single USSR. The plan was to destroy it by autumn of 1941. But they failed, at a cost of 30Mln Russians.
