What is the measure of the angle in standard position? photo: http://puu.sh/3bnMn.jpg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Options are 30 degrees 330 degrees -60 degrees -30 degrees I'd say the answer is 330, but how do the fractions come in to this?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

You're given a point. Using that point you can find the angle.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

|dw:1370734723372:dw| Use the x and y coordinates to find out the lengths of the sides of the triangle.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

|dw:1370734790585:dw| Tan(x) = (1/2)/(sqrt(3))/2) = 1/sqrt(3) = sqrt(3)/3

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

x = Tan^-1(sqrt(3)/3) = 30 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it 30 or -30 because it's clockwise?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Well right now as far as we're concerned it's just 30, but we're not done yet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay
