What are the solution intervals for |x – 4|– 2 > 7?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

first move all unknown terms to one side.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

And all known ones to the other.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Please don't give away the solution. I'm trying to help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was not planning on doing so :)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Thanks. Or you can just continue helping her.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need the solution ,thats why im asking

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Well that's why we're trying to teach you: |x – 4|– 2 > 7 Move all terms with the known values to one side, and all the ones with unknow values to the other side: |x-4| > 7 + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|x – 4|– 2 > 7 ADD 2 TO BOTH SIDES OF THE INEQUALITY ------------------------------------ |x – 4|– 2 > 7 +2 +2 ---- ---- |x – 4| > 9 -------------------------------------

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|x – 4| – 2 > 7 |x – 4| > 7+2 |x – 4| > 9 x - 4 > 9 or x - 4 < -9 < Solve the inequalities to get your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay got it
