Why was the Bay of Pigs an embarrassment for the United States? It showed that Havana had surveillance in Washington. The American invasion plot was a total failure. Kennedy did not understand cultural differences in Cuba. Florida could not stop the arrival of thousands of Cubans.

Proxy wars were primarily a product of American attempts to gain colonies the Soviet policy of the domino theory Soviet attempts to engage in a war with the U.S. the American policy of containment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Why did the United States eventually stop supporting South Africa? The government began enacting socialist land reforms. Popular opinion turned against South African apartheid. South Africa began taking arms and funds from the Soviets. The American public stopped supporting African intervention.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

For the first question, "The air strike on 15 April was a failure (only five of Castro's 36 planes were destroyed), leaving the invasion force totally exposed to Cuban air attack.22 When the 1,400 Cuban exiles began their amphibious invasion on 17 April, they were met on the beach by a strong, highly organized Cuban army. Though the CIA had anticipated a relatively easy overthrow of the Cuban government, the reality of the situation was starkly different. Jack and his advisers in Washington soon lost hope and by 18 April, the mission had clearly failed"

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

For the second question, I believe it's "the American policy of containment" Why? "A proxy war or proxy warfare is a war that results when opposing powers use third parties as substitutes for fighting each other directly. While powers have sometimes used governments as proxies, violent non-state actors, mercenaries, or other third parties are more often employed. It is hoped that these groups can strike an opponent without leading to full-scale war." This quote that I used mean that they didn't want to start World War 3. It can't be A, because it doesn't relate to Proxy war. It can't be C because like what the quote said, "without leading to full-scale war" Btw, I said "I believe" So I'm not 100 percent right.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

For the third question, I believe it's " The American public stopped supporting African intervention. "

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

I hope this help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYBODY! :)

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Now that I think about it. The third question, the answer is "Popular opinion turned against South African apartheid."
