A roast turkey is taken from an oven when its temperature has reached 185oF and is placed on a table in a room where the temperature is 72oF. The graph below shows how the temperature of the turkey decreases and eventually approaches room temperature. (It is the next graph hen clicking on the image with gridlines that this problem is based on, not the first one with the parabola) http://www.flickr.com/photos/97191831@N07/8994948592/ By measuring the slope of the tangent, (using the grid to approximate slope) estimate the rate of change of the temperature at the one hour mark. (You have to highlight the entire url including the black part to get to the image.)

The link isn't working for me...but all you need to do is calculate the slope from the graph over the 1 hour period.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

we need the grid, the pictures doesn't have any grid marks on it

OpenStudy (shane_b):

I guess I didn't paste it right. Anyway, the link works and you have to click the right arrow to see the image with the grid.

OpenStudy (shane_b):

@**izzy**: The grid shows you the tangent line, you just need to calculate the slope:\[Slope = \frac{\Delta rise}{\Delta run}\]
