Solve 4x < 2x - 10 and -3x > -12. Which is the best description of the solution set? Answer x < -5 and x < 4 x < -5 or x > 4 x < -5 x < 4

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

4x < 2x - 10 (subtract 2x from both sides) 4x - 2x < 2x - 2x - 10 (combine like terms) 2x < -10 (divide by 2 to get x by itself) 2x/2 < -10/2 x < -5 -3x > -12 (divide by -3 to get x by itself....keep in mind, when dividing by a negative, the inequality sign changes) -3x/3 < -12/-3 x < 4 Answer is A.
