OpenStudy (albert0898):

I'm really smart when it comes to math, but I just had a brain fart... How do you solve #34 from this practice test... http://schools.nyc.gov/documents/teachandlearn/learnathome/regents/integrated-algebra-review-booklet-final.pdf And give me the steps!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This looks like a quadratic equation in disguise ^.^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean if you multiply the whole thingy with x(x-12) You get (x+1)(x-12) = -7x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and as long as your answers are neither 0 nor 12 it should be fine ^.^

OpenStudy (albert0898):

Yea I got up to that part, but then they ask to solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well? x² - 11x - 12 = -7x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x² - 4x - 12 = 0

OpenStudy (albert0898):

Yea, I just figured that out too... my god. I hate brain farts... -.-. Thank you!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

whenever you have fraction = fraction ... you can cross-multiply to get rid of fractions
