what is protein synthesis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Protein synthesis is the process of building a new protein from amino acids. Messenger RNA (mRNA) contains the protein sequence information and delivers it to the ribosome. The ribosome then interprets the information contained in the mRNA strand and builds a new protein by incorporating amino acids one-by-one into the growing protein strand by recruiting transfer RNA (tRNA) to the site of protein synthesis. Each tRNA is charged with a specific amino acid, which is transferred to the newly synthesized protein.
