Open circle on −2, shading to the left. Closed circle on −2, shading to the left. Open circle on −2, shading to the right. Closed circle on −2, shading to the right. please help

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well since this is just "less than" we will have an open circle...that automatically eliminates 2 answers... lets solve it x - 8 < 5x we want to combine the x's let's subtract x from both sides x - 8 < 5x -x -x -8 < 4x now divide both sides by 4 -8 < 4x ------- 4 4 -8/4 < x -2 < x or written correctly x > -2 so we will have an open circle on -2 with shading ....?
