One organism has a diploid # of 10; another has a diploid # of 40. Which organism will likely have a greater genetic variation and WHY?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I already answered this. Greater diploid number means there are more chromosomes in the somatic cells. This intuitively means there is greater room for genetic variation. Clearly the organism with the greater diploid number will likely have greater genetic variation.
