How would the aufbau diagram of 'Na' look

OpenStudy (frostbite):

I assume we are looking at Na in the ground state so first write the electron configuration for Na and then draw the diagram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Na: \[1s^2 2s^2 2p^4 3s^1\]

OpenStudy (frostbite):

You need a few electrons in the 2p orbitals.

OpenStudy (frostbite):

1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah so then translating that into an Aufbau diagram

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Aye, haven't been hearing about such a diagram but I know the principles: We start by drawing some of the orbitals and remember that the 2p orbitals are 3 times degenerated: |dw:1370859432387:dw| Try use the drawing and draw the electrons.
