Simplify 11x9y(3y7)

sam (.sam.):

Is it? \[11x^9y(3y^7)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

sam (.sam.):

If you look at that it's actually \[11 \times x^9 \times y \times 3 \times y^7\] So these can be multiplied together \[\color{red}{11} \times x^9 \times \color{blue}{y} \times \color{red}{3} \times \color{blue}{y^7}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

33x9y8 ?

sam (.sam.):

\[11 \times 3=33 \\ y \times y^7=y^{1+7}=y^8\] -------------------------------------------- Then you get \[33x^9y^8\]

sam (.sam.):

Yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alrighty than you!

sam (.sam.):

yw :)
