help!!! i dont have a equation to put this to! Write an equation that you could solve using these steps: Add 7 to both sides. Then, divide both sides by 4. Explain how you know your answer is right.

work backwards

?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Woking backwards, and using opposite operators.... Well it would be something that we would want to isolate then solve for 'x'...so lets see If we want to add 7 to both sides....we must start with -7 dividing both sides by 4...means the x must be being multiplied by 4..so 4x - 7 = ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide by sides by 4 \(\to \) multiply by 4 \(4x\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add 7 to both sides \(\to \) subtract \(7\): \(4x-7\)

Oh ^^ Thanks @johnweldon1993 and @satellite73 !
