What is the approximate surface area of this pencil? (Use 3 point one four for pi. Round your answer to the nearest whole number.)

OpenStudy (nubeer):

ok you have to divide the pencil in parts... the tip of the pencil looks like a cone right? so first find the surfacce area of the cone then the back part of the pencil.. does this help to start?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (nubeer):

so first find the area of the cone part.. can you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure how to

OpenStudy (nubeer):

hmm do u know the formula for surface area of cone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Merp not atm I used to know

OpenStudy (nubeer):

this should help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Merp.-.

OpenStudy (nubeer):

umm O.o

OpenStudy (nubeer):

and congrats for getting married. :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha yea no.

OpenStudy (nubeer):

lol so do u get how to do or still lost?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't even know anymore.

OpenStudy (nubeer):

hmm :/ well u should start by revising formula's for surface area's... otherwise it would be so hard... look first part u can make cone... the straight part is like a cylinder and the back
