Which of these equations represent functions? Check all that apply. A. y=± (minus sign under +) root of X B. y=root of X C. x2 - y2 = 1 D. y = (x - 1)2

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Please state the requirements.

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Try the vertical line test on the functions' graphs.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

-y^2? That is no circle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my mistake

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

np. It is not a funtion either.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think my answers would be A,b,and D, correct me if I'm wrong,

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

How did you graph A to check it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

±, just means plus or minus so i did both

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yes, on the same graph. Becayse the \(\pm\) is outside the root, if \(x=1\), \(y=\{-1,1\}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so it cant be a function right?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Right. The first two here show it: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/rulzhdxw2j The other are the rest of things you needed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks a lot @e.mccormick !(:

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

np. have fun!
