Consider the following problem: "Mary wants to plant strawberries in her rectangular garden. If the dimensions of the garden are 20' by 48', and each plant must be 4' from any other plant or any edge, how many strawberries can she plant?" The strategy 'make a list' is useful for solving this problem.

i dont think mary shud be planting these strawberries if u ask me
I agree with dan...I hate strawberries. She should plant radishes or blueberries. And her space is restricted by the "4' from the edge" rule to a plot that is only 12 x 40 which means she can only plant 4*11=44 blueberry bushes. I have no idea what a "make a list" strategy is, so I can't say whether it would be more useful than my method which, in part, is counting on my fingers.
