Describe clearly the relationship between DNA, genes and chromosomes in NO MORE THAN two sentences.

I know what the difference is but I have to say the 'two sentences' threw me. I came up with this: The DNA is wound up into a chromosome on which genes are located. Just wondering if anyone could come up with something better? I don't think mine is very clear.
