Write the equation 2x2 + 2y2 = 8x -16y - 32 in the standard form. State whether the graph of the equation is a parabola, circle, ellipse, or hyperbola.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you will need to complete squares for this .. do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your IP suggests that youve got 4 accounts ......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and what no.. im at school atm its all one ip so some people might have there own acc on this ip

OpenStudy (amistre64):

rearrange the setup so that completing the squares is setup; what do we get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x2 + y2 - 4x + 8y + 16y + 16 = 0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

nice, a minor typo tho (x2 - 4x) + (y2 + 8y) + 16 = 0 then complete the square for x and y

OpenStudy (amistre64):

my guts saying a circle is forming

OpenStudy (amistre64):

<x>^2 - 4 + <y>^2 - 16 + 16 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankssss
