Herbivores also known as primary consumers. The greatest amount of energy flows through herbivores than decomposers. Decomposers can only recycle material, not energy. As food is passed through the food chain or food web , energy is lost. In general terms, only 10% of the energy stored in one trophic level (such as producers) is actually transferred to the next trophic level (for example the herbivores). This is known as the pyramid of energy. Decomposers come later in the food cycle after after a specie dies, therfore it receives less energy than herbivores Peace x
