The result of the Geneva Accords was "Vietnam was temporarily divided into two separate nations"

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

You see, during that time, Vietnam has won its independence from the French, (French colonized Vietnam) but there was a little problem. The leader of the Viet Minh, Ho Chi Minh, the one who defeated the French wanted the government to be communism. But the U.S. didn't want the government to be communism because then the domino theory would start. The domino theory is a theory where if China becomes communism, then the rest of asia would become communism. This would make the Soviet Union a powerful country. So the U.S. wanted Vietnam to be anti-communism. After a final decision, they made the Geneva Accords. This would result in Vietnam to be split into 2 part. (North Vietnam, and South Vietnam) North Vietnam would be communism, and South Vietnam would be anti-communism. I hope this help!
