A square tile has an area of 144 square inches. What is the length of one side of the tile?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so to find the area of a square you multiply the side length by 4. (if the square has equal sides) so 144/4 should equal to all the lengths of all the sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area not perimeter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation for the area of a square is \[A=s^2\] solve for s

i still dont understand im really bad at math

OpenStudy (thesecret20111):

To work out the area of a shape you do A=S*S or s^2 Therefore the square root of 144 is the length of one side.
