which of the following is equivalent to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5\[\sum_{n=3}^{5}3n+2\] 28 30 42 54 Any help would be appreciated (:

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

So starting with n = 3...and ending when n = 5...we substitute the values in between in for 'n' and add them together! 3n + 2 ...when n = 3...we have 3(3) + 2 = 9 + 2 = 11 3n + 2 ... when n = 4...we have 3(4) + 2 = 12 + 2 = 14 3n + 2 ...when n = 5...we have 3(5) + 2 = 15 + 2 = 17 Now we add our 3 results 11 + 14 + 17 = ... ?

42
