can someone please give me a problem statement about maxima minima? and is related to civil engineering.. please.. make it somehow complicated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@eroshea Try this f(x)=x^3+3(a-7)x^2+3(a^2-9)x-2 For what values of a does the function has a positive point of maximum

Construct a window in the shape of a semi-circle over a rectangle. If the distance around the outside of the window is 12 feet, what dimensions will result in the rectangle having largest possible area ? ----can you make a problem like that?? coz i don't have any idea on how.. this is just a project for my calculus and we haven't took that lesson.. and is related to Civil Engineering.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This will be the application part of maxima & minima .. Let me see if i can help u :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

owh i see.. it should be Application then.. :D i'll wait :))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have u solved the question u had given here ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1)Show that a rectangle of maximum area that can be inscribed in a circle is a square ? 2)Prove that perimeter of ractangleof given area is minimum if it is a Square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not yet..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i don't know how.. -_- im sorry.. i don't have an idea about that..
