And the reasoning behind that... Distribute...means to apply to each term..... see how 5 is being multiplied to the parenthesis...so you apply 5 and multiplication to each term inside those parenthesis 5 times 3x = ...? 5 times -2 = ...? That is how you have 15x - 10
